How To Be The Best in The World with Mike Michalowicz

Hey Guys!

Okay, before you roll your eyes one more time about that title, I have two things to say: One, that’s not a come-on…we really do have a strategy for how you can be the world’s best; and two, this week’s conversation is with the awesome Mike Michalowicz, who, even when fighting a cold, managed to offer up some of the best words to live and work by. (Trust me, you’re gonna want to take notes!) 

For those of you who don’t know Mike, he’s the author of two great titles, The Pumpkin Plan and The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, a regular on MSNBC’s Your Business on Sunday mornings and CEO of his own business-growth consulting firm. But really, Mike’s like the entrepreneur whisperer. Just a few of the inimitable insights he shares with us:

• Change the name of what your profession is. For example, Mike used to be known as a "computer guy" who worked with hedge funds. He then changed his profession into a “hedge fund technologist”—a title that immediately allowed his customers to see his uniqueness. This elevated Mike from all the other computer guys and even allowed him to charge a premium.

• Just say No to bad clients. Turns out, those difficult clients, the ones you can never please but end up spending so much time on, are costing you money! 

• And finally, how to be the best in the world? Identify the one world you are meant to serve. Because there are countless worlds and countless bests (as in, any behavior that’s the “most-est”), which when multiplied, equals infinite possibilities.
